Pet Insurance and Feline Ear Infections
Pet insurance can protect you financially from the costs of treatment if your cat suffers from an ear infection. Feline ear infections are not only painful, they can also lead to more serious conditions including deafness. Early detection is crucial, so if you suspect that your cat is suffering, book an appointment with your vet and inform your pet insurance company.
Pet insurance should help pay veterinary treatment costs of your cat’s ear infection up to the limit shown in your insurance schedule. However, bear in mind that pet insurance providers often need your vet to complete various pet insurance claims forms for the claim to be valid. Moreover, if your cat’s ear infection turns out to be an ongoing condition, your vet will need to complete a claims form and provide an invoice for every occasion that your cat is treated.
Pet insurance companies don’t usually offer vets any financial incentive to do this so before your vet begins treatment it is worth making sure that your vet is happy to do the necessary paperwork. However, your pet insurance company may be able to pay your vet directly if they are set up to receive insurance payments.
Feline ear infections are serious, as cats have an acute sense of hearing. Ear infections can affect both hearing and balance and if an infection goes untreated it can lead to more serious conditions including deafness. Whilst humans have six muscles in and around their ears, cats have 30. This allows them to move their ears through 180 degrees and localise sounds far more effectively than humans can.1
If your cat has particular aural difficulty or suffers from a rare condition, your vet may decide that your pet needs to see a specialist. Your pet insurance should cover the costs of specialist treatment, but your regular vet will still need to complete a separate form for the initial costs of consultation, referral and any tests or treatment that your cat underwent whilst in their care.
In addition to covering specialist’s fees, your pet insurance could also help you with other expenses. In fact, your pet insurance may pay up to £150 towards travel and accommodation expenses between your home and the veterinary practice where your cat receives specialist care.
With prompt treatment, your cat should recover their hearing, and with the relevant pet insurance forms filled out, you should receive excellent financial assistance from your pet insurance provider.

Amy sez, no magazine for you

Image by Arthaey
So I’m trying to read my magazine when Amy jumps up on the countertop, acting cute. I foolishly support her cuteness by petting her, which she takes for an immediate invitation to flop over on top of my article.
(Amy’s face is the only blurry thing in the photo because she refused to hold still for her picture. Hrmph.)

Are dogs banned from Antarctica?
The 1991 Madrid Protocol, among other requirements, called for the removal of the husky dogs from Antarctica by 1994. In 1991 the Madrid Protocol on Environmental Protection to the Antarctic banned all introduced species (except people) from the Antarctic to protect the native wildlife from introduced diseases.

Jeevana, once again looking utterly cute, lying on her back and directly looking at me. She was in the shade of a tree, next to her brother. On this picture she is about six and a half months.

Odessa

Odessa lives downstairs from us and is a sweet little pug. The picture is a little washed out because I wanted to show her cute little face, but unfortunately I positioned myself so she was in my shadow.

sheep in wales (1 of 3) {explored}

Image by Photography King ♛
Traditionally I’m not a massive fan of animal photography. Don’t get me wrong I love animals, it’s just I don’t really like obvious animal pictures or just obvious pictures. The reason I took pictures of sheep at all is because I was trying to catch one to ‘pet’
